George J Elvey's 1868 classic and rousing hymn proclaims the majesty of Jesus, the eternal King. The hymn speaks of Christ's lordship from before the beginning of time, his birth in Bethlehem, his role as bearer of human sin and pain, his mighty victory over death, and his eternal authority over all of Creation.
