Who are we?
Now a registered charity, we have a clear Christian focus to our work. Our main aims in all that we do seek to use music to glorify God, and to provide an introduction for the non-Christian to the reality of the gospel. Delegated by All Souls to govern the Trust are a Board of Trustees all respected in their fields and with a long-standing connection with All Souls Church or All Souls Orchestra. The staff team, too, all have close connections with the Orchestra - some still manage to play when time allows.
As well as supporting the music-making in the church, Langham Arts Trust takes the Christian work of the All Souls musicians out of the church building and into the commercial and public market place. Thus, with the highest standards of quality and presentation, we aim to share gospel truth with a wider world so often untouched by the richness which God longs for his people to share.
All our resources are dedicated to promoting the events, such as Prom Praise, producing recordings which arise from these, and supporting the music making in All Souls Church. In order to support this sustantial and varied ministry we appeal for donations and other funding, and we publish a periodic newsletter with a national and international circulation in excess of 6,500, which keeps those interested in touch with the orchestra's activities. More recently we have created the All Souls Orchestra Partnership to help raise funds and awareness of this ministry.
As Christians, we seek to bring the whole of our lives under the purposes and direction of Jesus Christ. So we aim to help dedicated Christian musicians to use their gifts in the service of the gospel. We believe that together we can use music both as a celebration of creation and creativity, and to encourage Christians in both worship and evangelism. Whenever we read or hear comments about the joy, imagination, enthusiasm and excellence of a Langham Arts concert or event, we're pleased the glory all belongs to God. Players and singers pray regularly with each other, with a reliance on the Holy Spirit's ability to enliven and strengthen our gifts. The Lord is giving us unique opportunities and we know we can only serve in reliance upon Him.
